From sketchbook to computer.

Like many people, I'm curious about the creation process, it interests me on all levels. From the initial brainstorm process, why one idea resonates more than another, to concept and development. I'm even fascinated by the documentation. Unfortunately we're usually only privy to the finish, and not much else.

Over on Ben Templesmith's blog we get to see, as he puts it: “Here's another peek at how I drunkenly veer from sketch on a piece of paper to a final cover finished on the computer.“ I thought I would follow suite.

Panel 2 of PAGE ONE - From sketchbook to computer.

Initial sketch.

Took a photo and then printed it, worked oil pastels and black pencil crayon to add definition.

Took photo and printed again, this added additional texture. Charcoaled around the figure to bring into focus.

Finally taken into Photoshop where the magic happens. Lots of additional textured layers and colour work.
